Dr. Achyut K. Dutta, President
Dr. Dutta is responsible for Banpil’s management and technology direction including R&D activities related to chip-to-chip electrical interconnects, image sensors, and solar cell technologies. He specializes in design and development of high-speed modules, microwave design, and simulation for microwave level interconnects, and various optical components including photodetectors, light-emitting diodes, semiconductor lasers, and sub-systems. Prior to Banpil, Dr. Dutta held senior management and research positions at Fujitsu and NEC in the U.S. and Japan respectively. He was Senior Design Manager at Fujitsu, USA where he established a high-speed module design center from scratch and successfully transferred R&D work to manufacturing in Japan that generated more than $350M in revenues in 2000. At NEC, he managed numerous projects and contributed in many optical components and subsystems for general and communication applications. Dr. Dutta has authored over 100 technical papers on optical devices, high-speed packaging, and opto-electronics interconnects, and holds more than 50 patents. He has also edited three books on WDM Technologies (Publisher: Academic Press, Boston, MA). He continues to serve as organizer, general and conference chair, program chair, and technical program committee member of numerous conferences including SPIE, OSA, and IEEE. He is a Fellow of the SPIE and a Senior Member of the IEEE. Dr. Dutta was selected as one of three recipients for 1996 IEEE LEOS Engineering Achievement Award and a recipient of NEC's best R&D award for POF-Link. Dr. Dutta received his MS and Ph.D. degrees both in Electronics Engineering from Shizuoka University, Japan.
